BOOST Fellowship

The BOOST Project aims to uncover untapped job creation potential in the e-mobility sector in Africa. It follows a sequenced approach with progressive stages, forming an outcome chain for holistic, sustainable job creation and development in the crucial e-mobility sector. The project is a collaborative effort between the GIZ's Special Initiative on Decent Work for a Just Transition and the Urban Electric Mobility Initiative (UEMI), engaging with local actors and companies for co-development. 

The project involves partnerships with local entrepreneurs, industry and technical experts, regional platforms for electric mobility, and universities. These collaborations aim to initiate new or improved business concepts that contribute to the local economy, create jobs, and foster sustainable development and climate action. Linkages with educational and vocational training institutions ensure knowledge and skills transfer, creating an ecosystem for change. 

The BOOST Project's transformative potential lies in cultivating an enabling environment, building strategic partnerships, and offering crucial support to companies, contributing to sustainable growth and job creation in the e-mobility sector. The project's results chain efficiently utilises resources to achieve objectives: job creation, industry development, combating climate change, and sustainability in e-mobility. 

We are looking for a fellow who would support the project activities. The fellowship will be based in the country of the execution (Ghana or Morocco), and the fellow will work closely with the local partners and the project team at UEMI. 

 

Tasks 

• Identify companies in the e-mobility sector and universities/academic institutions offering or interested in capacity building in the e-mobility sector 

• Conduct interviews with the companies to map their technical skills needs for expanding and growing operations in the e-mobility sector 

• Conduct interviews with the local academic and TVET institutions to map the courses that are being offered related to e-mobility 

• Support in developing training courses that will be delivered to the companies and academic partners 

• Liaise with local partners and UEMI to support the execution of the project at the local level 

• Identify opportunities for producing academic knowledge products (articles, position papers, policy papers) 

• Participate in local meetings with partners to support the project implementation 

• Support in developing reports for the project 

• Provide support to other related tasks 

 

Qualifications 

• Currently enrolled in an academic program (or) have recently completed one 

• Aims to continue an academic career, either in pursuing a Master’s or a PhD 

• Have a plan or concept note detailing their expectation from the fellowship and expected result at the end of the fellowship 

• Experience in working in the e-mobility sector 

• Experience working with e-mobility companies at a local level. 

• Fluency in the English language is required.
